Most of today’s putter designs place the Centre of Gravity towards the rear of the putter head and pulling the CoG backward can be problematic according to the design team at Cleveland Golf. On the new range of Frontline Elite putters Cleveland have addressed this issue by creating the face insert out of Tungsten which has helped them to position the CoG all the way at the front of the head. 

Most putter designs achieve their forgiveness gains by packing weight into the back of the head which adds to the M.O.I but pushes the Ch toward the rear at the same time. with a rear-biased CoG a slight mis-hit can cause a putt to travel offline or even end up short of the hole, even if the putt was a perfectly straight one. The Frontline Elite range of putters uses more than 30g of metal injection moulded tungsten across the striking area to move weight as far forward in the head as possible.This creates a much more forward CoG which helps the player hit straighter putts time after time.

If you are to strike a putter off-centre, the clubhead will twist at impact. The centre of this twist is fixed on the putter’s CoG and when the CoG is positioned so far away from the face, the amount of twist is magnified. With the Cleveland Frontline Elite range of putters, the forward CoG position means that they are 38% more accurate on miss-hits than the leading competitor’s putters that have a rear CoG.
