COBRA RADSPEED ONE LENGTH IRONS
Cobra have once again become a major player in the world of golf, releasing a string of innovative and high performing golf club over the past few seasons. Both the F9 and SpeedZone iron ranges performed extremely well and ticked all the boxes with launch, speed and forgiveness. They weren’t however, the most aesthetically pleasing game improvement irons and so the Cobra engineers set out to redesign their mid-handicap iron from the ground up.
The RADSPEED iron is the result of some painstaking work from the Cobra R&D Team and promises to improve on the already excellent performance of its predecessors Powered by Cobra’s patented PWRSHELL technology, both irons produced a high launching, lower spinning ball flight that allowed players to hit their irons further than ever before. 2021 sees the release of the Cobra RADSPEED irons and these technology packed beauties look set to take the golfing world by storm.
The Cobra RADSPEED iron derives its name from the new Radial Technology used in its construction, and this groundbreaking method has a hugely beneficial effect on performance. By using a strategic placement of weight relative to the clubhead’s centre of gravity Cobra have created a golf club that optimises both ball speed and forgiveness. With more mass placed extremely low in the heel and toe sections (the furthest point from the CG), the RADSPEED iron brings a stability that has never been seen before.
Aesthetically the Cobra RADSPEED iron hasn’t deviated too much from what we have come to expect from this innovative brand with an appealing midsize head inspiring confidence when placed behind the ball at address. A new carbon fibre topline has been added, which has allowed weight to be saved and redistributed more effectively elsewhere in the clubhead. This new construction has the added benefit of making the topline look less chunky.
The PWRSHELL face that has served Cobra so well is present once again in the RADSPEED iron and continues to offer an incredibly thin face that brings explosive ball speeds across a larger area. This also serves to make the RADSPEED a supremely high performing iron even when shots are struck off centre.
The RADSPEED long irons have been made using a two-piece metal wood construction technique which allows them to be launched high and far whilst the short irons have been created using a one-piece construction for added control. The hosel length also decreases in size from long to short irons which serves to help launch the long irons and control the flight of the short irons.
The Cobra RADSPEED irons are huge advancement in golf club design and look set to be one of the most forgiving golf clubs ever produced. They also have the added bonus of looking extremely cool. If you are looking for a new set of irons to take your game to the next level, then the RADSPEEDS could well be the clubs that take you there.
The One Length concept has gained a serious amount of traction in recent times as Bryson De Chambeau continues to perform so well with his. In the One Length system each club is made to the same length as a 7-iron which removes the need to continually adjust to different length clubs. This is especially useful in the longer irons as the shorter shaft make them easier to strike properly and gapping improves as a result.
